Beatrice Kondo –
Senior Consultant
“My doctorate is in Biological Sciences, and I am a senior analyst at a small research and consulting company. I also have a strong background in biotechnology education at the university level. My interests include applying biotechnology to questions of global health, finding ways to provide universal free education via the internet, and educating physicians as well as the general public about personalized medicine.
My interests in education include active learning strategies and online learning and teaching techniques. Growing up neurodivergent, with a high IQ but unchallenged in grade school, I realized that teaching strategies for children did not address their individual strengths and weaknesses. As an adult, I learned to be responsible for my own education during my doctoral training. I would like to see self-directed learning become a more common learning method for all age groups, and to foster the use of active learning techniques among students whose abilities are currently not being realized.”
