Grant Writing & Funding Architecture

We write competitive applications for everything from small foundation awards to federal grant programs. Flat-fee pricing, five tiers matched to grant size, no retainer required.

How it works

1

Scoping

You complete the free Grant Readiness Assessment (GRA) and share the grant opportunity. We review fit, funder alignment, and readiness, then confirm the tier and flat fee before any work begins.

2

Writing

Our team drafts the full application, coordinates with your staff on required documentation, and produces a submission-ready package. After you review it, we revise and submit.

3

Delivery

We submit the complete application on time, organize the supporting documentation, and handle post-submission questions through the funding decision.

Pricing

Five tiers, all flat fees. Tier is determined by grant size during intake. Clients without a grant library add a one-time $1,500 setup, explained below.

Tier 1 $500 flat fee
Up to $25K

Local foundation grants, small community awards, small state grants. Typically under 15 pages.

Tier 2 $1,500 flat fee
$25K to $100K

Foundation grants, state agencies, mid-size private funders. Standard narrative and budget sections.

Tier 3 $3,500 flat fee
$100K to $500K

Major foundation awards, regional government programs, larger corporate giving. Substantial narrative, detailed budget justification, supporting documentation.

Tier 4 $7,500 flat fee
$500K to $2M

Federal agency grants, NOFA-driven applications, competitive national programs. Multi-section, compliance-heavy, extended coordination.

Tier 5 From $15,000, quoted
$2M and above

Large federal awards, multi-year programs, consortium proposals. Quoted by scope at intake.

Grant library setup

Every application draws on the same core material: your mission, program descriptions, outcomes, budget, financial statements, board list, and standard attachments. We organize that material once into a grant library. Each application then starts from the library, which is what makes the fees above possible.

  • One-time fee of $1,500, paid with your first application. It applies to every client who does not already have a library with us.
  • Included for clients of the Operational Readiness retainer, which builds the library in Month 3.
  • Built from documents your organization already has. If key documents do not exist yet, such as an annual budget, financial statements or written program outcomes, creating them is Operational Readiness work. The free Operational Readiness Assessment shows which applies to you.
  • The library belongs to your organization, including for applications you submit on your own.
  • Organizations that also pursue government contracts can add a proposal library later for $500, since most of the core material carries over.

How we assign tiers

We set the tier at intake based on grant value and application complexity. The Grant Readiness Assessment gathers what we need to match you to the correct tier and confirm funder fit.

We price by the work, never by the award. No commissions or success fees, and the fee is the same whether or not the application is funded.

Payment terms

  • Tier 1 and Tier 2: paid in full at kickoff.
  • Tier 3: full at kickoff is default; 50/50 split available on request.
  • Tier 4 and Tier 5: 50 percent at kickoff, 50 percent on final submission delivery.

Expedited delivery

Standard timelines are set at intake based on tier and funder deadline. Rush delivery inside one week carries a 25 percent premium on the flat fee. Availability confirmed case by case.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to take the GRA?
Yes. We ask every prospective grant client to complete it before we discuss an engagement. Your answers give us what we need to confirm funder fit and set your tier. If you would like to talk with us before the assessment, you can book a free strategy call.
How do you assign tiers?
Tier is determined by the grant size you are pursuing. A $40K state grant lands in Tier 2; a $300K foundation award is Tier 3. The tier is not negotiated or self-selected: the work scope scales with the application's complexity, which scales with the funding amount. We confirm the tier and lock the flat fee at intake before any work begins.
What happens if I do not win the grant?
The fee stays the same. Fees cover the work of producing a competitive application. The award decision belongs to the funder and depends on factors outside any writer's control: agency priorities, the applicant pool, and political timing. We do not work on contingency, because no writer can guarantee an award.
Should I also take the Operational Readiness Assessment?
We recommend it. Funders review your organization along with your application: governance, financial controls, filings and records. The ORA is free and shows the gaps most likely to cost you an award. The ORA is optional for Grant Writing. If you apply before those gaps are closed, that choice is yours, and the fee stays the same whatever the result.

Not sure your organization is ready to apply? The free Operational Readiness Assessment shows the gaps a reviewer is most likely to notice. Take the ORA
